About Me

Welcome to my blog. I would like to introduce myself. My name is Christy K. Sanders. I am a third grade teacher in Hawaiʻi. I have been teaching at the elementary school level for more than 12 years. I have taught first and second grade as well. I am a lifelong learner and constantly strive to improve my teaching practices. I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching in 2001. I am currently attending the University of Hawaʻi at Mānoa for my doctorate in education. I am entering my fourth year in the Fall of 2015. However, I am in the process of changing from educational technology to curriculum studies but need to wait until the application window opens in Septemeber 2015.

I have been teaching in a culturally and ethnically diverse elementary school during my teaching career. These experiences have sparked my interest in finding effective strategies to reach all my learners especially English Language Learners. I am constantly learning and seeking new methods  to implement with my students because my ultimate goal is to have my students achieve academic success.

I am not an expert. I am a student of the craft of education and all that it entails. Currently, I am  interested in presenting students with culturally relevant curriculum. The ability to collaborate and share with like minded educators can only propel our profession forward.
